Saga - 'all cruisers must be vaccinated'

Saga - 'all cruisers must be vaccinated'

Saga have made a clear statement about their return to cruising.

In a bold move they announced today that all passengers joining their ships will have to be fully vaccinated (i.e. have had both vaccinations) against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to cruising.

No vaccine certificate - no cruise.

It seems very tough but its fair and it seems a decisive move that should get their ships moving again.

Spirit Of Adventure is heading for St Petersburg

The Saga Cruise 2021 cruise season is now planned to start with the Inaugural Cruise of Spirit of Adventure  - the 16 night Baltic cruise is schedules for the 4th May 2021 so this will be a tight deadline for many customers. Saga specialises in cruises for the 50+ age group but under the current NHS guidelines only the 60+ age group are scheduled to have received their vaccinations by then.

Will everyone be ready in Dover on May 4th?

The new vaccine requirement for all cruisers comes as part of a Coronavirus update from Saga Cruises . Crew are not required to be vaccinated but will be subject to other measures and protools to ensure everyones safety.

The new policy also applies to River Cruises and to land based holidays.

There is no information at the moment as to how this will affect shore excursions - obviously we are really hoping that this new policy will obviate the need for escorted shore excursions - especially on the Round Britain itineraries. We will update you when we have more information on how Saga plan to handle this.

Saga have made it very clear that there will be no exemptions to the policy but have promised that they will work closely with all guests to rearrange or reschedule the cruises that will be affected. There is a very useful and comprehensive FAQ on the Saga website that covers most questions. The new policy also applies to River Cruise and to shore based holidays.

I hope have found this useful, as always it would be great if you commented below! There are also some small affiliate links there too which help towards the running of the website - if you click through and buy anything from them it gives us a few pence but doesn’t cost you any extra! It’s a great help and thanks to all those who do!

Happy portExploring!
